I started a reasonable redesign project for a college girl’s bedroom on October 1st. Clearly, it has taken me forever! The mandate from the occupant was to basically change nothing, making the job a little more challenging than I thought it would be.
The original color scheme was orange. The new color scheme is lavender and navy.
New lamps and new curtains are part of the project, but I was not “allowed” to change any of the furniture…
The bed, desk and side table would stay. I did get rid of an ancient bureau to update the look. Shhhhh.
Originally (in Oct) I was going to paint the room Benjamin Moore #1404 Crocus (on right), but it was too dark. I went with the lighter #1402 Spring Iris.
The hot pink desk chair also found its way into the basement.
Tim putting together the new CB2 Shake Low Dresser. Lacquered white hi-gloss for a more modern feel.
Organizing pictures to be hung.
New navy/white horizontal striped curtains at the window. A galvanized steel bistro chair at the desk and another one by the bureau to toss clothes on!
I found a fun vintage mirror in Florida to go over the new bureau.
The blue side table got a new Pottery Barn glass lamp, as did the bureau. The bookcase was painted a fresh coat of white and reorganized.
A mirror was moved from the other side of the room, painted white and hung over the desk.
The room looks fresh and modern now. The clean navy/white bedding from Pottery Barn and the new throw pillows changed the tone. The wall color is soft and pretty. The original gray area rug works beautifully in the room now too. Take a look at the original blog post from October 1st here.
