I started a reasonable redesign project for a college girl’s bedroom on October 1st. Â Clearly, it has taken me forever! Â The mandate from the occupant was to basically change nothing, making the job a little more challenging than I thought it would be.
The original color scheme was orange. Â The new color scheme is lavender and navy.
New lamps and new curtains are part of the project, but I was not “allowed” to change any of the furniture…
The bed, desk and side table would stay. Â I did get rid of an ancient bureau to update the look. Â Shhhhh.
Originally (in Oct) I was going to paint the room Benjamin Moore #1404 Crocus (on right), but it was too dark. Â I went with the lighter #1402 Spring Iris.
The hot pink desk chair also found its way into the basement.
Tim putting together the new CB2 Shake Low Dresser. Â Lacquered white hi-gloss for a more modern feel.
Organizing pictures to be hung.
New navy/white horizontal striped curtains at the window. Â A galvanized steel bistro chair at the desk and another one by the bureau to toss clothes on!
Â
I found a fun vintage mirror in Florida to go over the new bureau.
The blue side table got a new Pottery Barn glass lamp, as did the bureau. Â The bookcase was painted a fresh coat of white and reorganized.
Â
Â
A mirror was moved from the other side of the room, painted white and hung over the desk.
Â
     Â
The room looks fresh and modern now. Â The clean navy/white bedding from Pottery Barn and the new throw pillows changed the tone. Â The wall color is soft and pretty. Â The original gray area rug works beautifully in the room now too. Â Take a look at the original blog post from October 1st here.
