Sharpen your pencils Oscar fans! Â The Academy Awards are on this Sunday night and The Wry Home is having an Oscar pop quiz. Â With a prize.
I LOVE this show!
I almost saw all of the best picture nominees. Â Missed Whiplash and Selma, but made it to the others.
My quiz is in only six of the categories. Â Whoever gets the most answers right, will get a little Oscar goodie in the mail. Â Just jot down your answers in the comments section at the end of this blog post by 6pm on Sunday EST.
The categories are as follows:
BEST PICTURE
American Sniper
The Theory of Everything
Whiplash
Boyhood
The Imitation Game
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Selma
Birdman
I am between two movies that start with a B.
Marion Cotillard ~ Two Days, One Night
Reese Witherspoon ~ Wild
Felicity Jones ~ The Theory of Everything
Julianne Moore ~ Still Alice
Rosamund Pike ~ Gone Girl
I know Julianne is the favorite, but I am leaning towards another…
Steve Carell ~ Foxcatcher
Bradley Cooper ~ American Sniper
Benedict Cumberbatch ~ The Imitation Game
Michael Keaton ~ Birdman
Eddie Redmayne ~ The Theory of Everything
He deserves this one!
Meryl Streep ~ Into the Woods
Laura Dern ~ Wild
Patricia Arquette ~ Boyhood
Emma Stone ~ Birdman
Kiera Knightly ~ The Imitation Game
12 years of devotion, well done.
Mark Ruffalo ~ Foxcatcher
Ethan Hawke ~ Boyhood
J.K. Simmons ~ Whiplash
Robert Duvall ~ The Judge
Edward Norton ~ Birdman
My movie crush is in this category.
Alejandro G. Inarritu ~ Birdman
Richard Linklater ~ Boyhood
Bennett Miller ~ Foxcatcher
Wes Anderson ~ Grand Budapest Hotel
Morten Tyldum ~ The Imitation Game
His creativity should win him an Oscar.
 Â
 Â
I missed The Judge and Two Days, One Night too, but more snow and freezing temps could lead to some weekend on-demanding.
 Â
 Â
Good luck. Â Enjoy the Academy Awards. Â Check my Facebook page (link below) at 7pm Sunday EST for my Oscar picks. Â I will announce the winner(s) in my blog post next week. Â Please check-in so I can get your e-mail to send you the gift!

I’m leaning towards a couple of dark horses this year. I’ve also told my husband (who’s INSISTING on watching with me) that if he even SPEAKS during the Oscars, he’ll be banished from the room. Here goes:
Best Picture: Birdman
Best Actor: Michael Keaton
Best Actress: Julianne Moore
BSActor:
Ummm…I WASN’T FINISHED!
BSActor: JK Simmons
BSActress: Laura Dern
Best Director: Richard Linklater
I loved everything about “American Sniper”, did not like “Selma” and thought “Gone Girl” was awful. I also love anything Wes Anderson does and thought Ralph Fiennes was hilarious. Emma Stone is too skinny.
Husbands may not speak during the show. Although, I wish you were on this coast so WE could watch together! I am also leaning towards some dark horses, but will let you know Sunday 🙂
I did not get too see many of the movies nominated this year but, it is going to be a cold weekend….
American Sniper
Julianne Moore
Bradley Cooper
Patricia Arquette
Ethan Hawke
Morten Tyldum

Good guessing!

We 5 in the sunny island of Vieques predict the following :
Imitation Game
Rosamund Pike
Eddie Redmayne
Laura Dern

We expect to win because of family connections, and we expect 5 prizes, and the best ones. As real Americans we expect prizes, even if we lose!
Love, Melinda and 4 fabulous friends.
