You know what I am talking about!
After four days of hand wringing, phone checking and obsessive TV watching – we decided to unplug and head down to the West Village.
We were in NYC for the weekend to see dear friends and help our daughter find a new apartment.
We got to the West Village early before an apartment showing and dipped into Cafe Kitsune on Hudson Street for a quick coffee. It was a gorgeous weekend! Close to 70 degrees and sunny, a welcome distraction from what was going on.
The apartment was super cute and Em put in an application right away, so we were free to wander.
Everyone was out in this beautiful weather. NYC has totally figured out the outdoor dining situation, we ate outside all weekend in cozy, creatively decorated spaces!
Carrie Bradshaw’s steps and beautiful old New York streets.
We were walking through this adorable farmers market when we heard a woman yelling and horns honking. Our first reaction was that something bad had happened. Until we heard people clapping and cheering. Alerts came up on our phones. Our man Joe did it!
Even though it was only 11:30, champagne was on the menu! We walked over to Cafe Cluny and got a sunny table outside.
Champagne and french fries for brunch? Bring it on – we are celebrating!
The city was erupting all around us. Singing and dancing. People drinking champagne out of bottles, people crying. It was incredible. We were so happy to be in the middle of all of this joy.
I couldn’t think of a better place to hear the news.
After hours of soaking in the revelry, we capped the day off with dinner at Mr. Chow.
The Gambei seaweed is my absolute favorite dish on the menu!
My thoughtful daughter had them put a candle in our dessert ~ birthday month has commenced 🙂 I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Cheers!
