I am told the end of summer is officially September 21st. But, sending my kids back to college makes it feel like the end of this glorious season is right NOW. I am sad to see summer come to an end, so this week I am looking back on what a wonderful time it was.
Some travel was involved. Going to Siena and surrounding Tuscany kicked off the summer when we went to pick up my daughter from her spring semester in Rome.
A quick trip to Atlanta for the gift show…
Nantucket with some good friends.
I launched my first product in early July!
The Wry Home BEACH candle. Jasmine, sea salt and citrus.
Smells divine. There are a few left!
A little design work. A deck got a facelift.
So did a bed.
And a powder room. Not too much. It was a relaxing summer!
I wrote about the sweet movie theatre on Block Island, opened in 1882 and still going strong.
A new wind farm popped up off Block Island this summer.
Definitely the new tourist attraction!
Summer friends and summer entertaining. The best.
Lastly, I was nominated for a blog award in mid-July. Very exciting! The Amara Interior Blog Awards are based in the UK (have no idea how they found me!) and nominated The Wry Home for “Best USA Interior Blog.” Voting ends on September 9th – tomorrow. If you are so inclined, please vote by clicking here: And, the words Pumpkin Spice Latte are not to be spoken until September 22nd!
