I headed to LA last week to attend the 2017 Design Bloggers Conference. One of my closest friends, who is an amazing interior designer in San Francisco, joined me for the weekend.
The reason we were in LA was the conference, but we veered off course to enjoy all the city has to offer.
Our first stop (via a harrowing “back” route) was The Broad contemporary art museum downtown.
This is a must see if you come to LA. Opened in September 2015, incredible art.
Keith Haring on the left, Andreas Gursky on the right.
Next stop, dinner at Drago Ristorante inside the Petersen Automotive Museum.
Sorry, but hard to beat delicious pasta and a glass of wine, surrounded by gorgeous old cars.
We got in some great walks on the beach in Venice and Santa Monica. Spent a few hours over breakfast people watching at Gjusta in Venice and decided we should have saved our 80’s clothes.
I corralled some old friends from our Manhattan Beach days to imbibe with us at Bar Marmot and eat dinner at Lucques on Melrose.
Did not take a lot of arm twisting!
Before the conference started, we ran down to the fashion district to meet a very cool artist – Rebecca Kirshner – in her studio.
Rebecca was a writer and producer on 90210, Gilmore Girls, Freaks and Geeks and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She started painting beautiful watercolors of cactus a few years ago. We were so lucky to meet her and see her work!
Visit her at rebeccakirshner.com.
We finally had to focus when the conference started….
We got amazing tips on social media, marketing, design, content and strategic ways to partner and collaborate. But, still escaped to the pool as often as we could…
What a BLAST, thanks LA!
