Thanks to my 4am insomnia and the loud PING of an arriving e-mail, I ended up in the Turks and Caicos.
Grabbing my iPad to see what the e-mail was about (surely it must be urgent at that hour), I saw it was only from JetBlue. JetBlue having a one-day sale. Why I decided to open it and browse through what cities were on sale can only chalked up to my mental state at 4 in the morning.
In my tired stupor, I actually booked two tickets online to the Turks, leaving the day after Memorial Day. I would take my daughter who just finished her first year at college as a…… not sure what exactly. A celebratory trip for finishing her freshman year? Maybe not the right message!
The minor detail of a HOTEL hadn’t entered my mind either until I got the confirmation e-mail from JetBlue about the flights. In a rush and wanting to reduce any work on the other end (dinner reservations, renting a car, finding activities for my daughter), we ended up at Club Med.
It was an assault of color when we arrived at the resort, framed against pale sand and white clouds. The perfect design inspiration for summer.
Citrus pink and orange
Emerald foliage, colorful sails
Clear turquoise and blue
The Club Med beach was stunning.
Paddleboarding, reading, yoga and zumba were on the agenda.
Many books were read on the beach.
We felt like we had the place to ourselves.
It was beautiful!
Design ideas from Caribbean colors were everywhere.
Emily and I had a wonderful time. Four days of R&R, lots of laughing and tons of time spent in the water. The Caribbean is HOT in May! Maybe decisions made at 4am are not all that bad?

Awesome! Despite the heat a perfect getaway and yes the Caribbean palette is always pleasing in so many design settings!
It is striking with the vibrant colors and cool sand and clouds. Great contrast.
Wow – on this rainy day these colors are even more stunning!
Stay tuned to the adorable fabrics I found to coordinate with all of these colors!
