Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and some needed time off. We went to Paris for a few days to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday between Christmas and New Years. I have never been there that time of year and it was wonderful!
The weather was gorgeous.
Cold but clear blue skies every day.
Walking, eating and shopping were our main agenda items. Oh, and three museums.
We went to the brand new Le Grand Musee du Parfum. If you are a fragrance addict like me, this is a must see.
The Rodin and Picasso museums were on our list. I love the smaller museums.
We stayed at the Hotel Espirit Saint Germain on rue Saint Sulpice. Lovely left bank neighborhood and beautiful hotel.
Fragrance and candles are always on my shopping list. Had to stop into Parfums Costes and diptyque. Candle goals!
We went to our favorite vintage poster place, Galerie Documents and found this 1959 ski gem.
and Goyard… Cannot pass up stopping in here.
We racked up a lot of Fitbit steps, walking everywhere.
The scenery speaks for itself.
Moving onto the food part of our trip…
We went on a fabulous food tour in the Latin Quarter with a company called Viator (thank you Karen Q).
Cheese, pastry, bread, fois gras, wine…
This is why we walked so much!
Macarons and hot chocolate at Angelina. Pots of whipped cream on the side.
Restaurants we loved: the new Alain Ducasse restaurant in Les Halles called Champeaux.
Le Pichet, Les Comptoir and Les Ombres. Les Ombres comes with a view of the Eiffel Tower at night.
In my travels, I spotted these shoes that I was dying to buy. Nobody in my group liked them… I would wear them with jeans, skinny black pants, a black skirt & black tights. I had no peer support, so I left them there! Waaaaaaaa.
This time of year in Paris, with the blue skies and cool weather, is wonderful. It is crowded, though, so you need to be organized and have dinner, museum and special exhibits reserved before you get there.
Happy New Year! Cheers to an amazing 2017.
