Palm Springs

We left cold, gray – did I mention COLD – Boston and headed west this winter in search of sun and an abundance of citrus.

Guess what?

We were in Palm Springs for a couple of weeks, which now seems way too short. Our daughters came to visit, we saw great old friends, explored the city, the design, the food, the desert landscape and the pickle ball courts!

Dinner at Workshop is a no miss and GiGi’s for a special “swan” aperol spritz.

Gabino’s creperie – too many times – for amazing sandwiches!

“The Pink Cabana” at the Sands Hotel in Indian Wells was an amazing choice for a special birthday for a very special person.

The pink entrance  was adorable with rounded black doors and the vintage restaurant interior! We had the best cocktail EVER at lunch, the Cabana Colada. It tastes like key lime pie over ice. Here is the recipe: 2oz Gin, 2oz Coco Real cream of coconut, 1oz (or to taste) La Croix coconut seltzer, 1 oz fresh lime juice. Shake well and pour over ice. Grate lime zest on top of drink. You’re welcome 🙂

Plenty of snow for Emily and Tim to ski at Big Bear one day. Is Tim wearing a polo shirt?

We went to Joshua Tree this trip on a beautiful, chilly day.

All of these rock formations were created from huge pools of magma rising up under Southern California over 100 million years ago. It is so beautiful.

It was an incredible trip thanks to all of our hosts who took the time to make it so wonderful. Fabulous dinners, playing cards, mixing cocktails, hanging by the pool or just sitting outside and enjoying the incredible weather.
