My husband and I met in London on his 20th birthday, both over there for a college semester.
The first time we brought our daughters to London was Thanksgiving when they were six and eight years old. Â The trip did not get off to a great start… Â The flight took off 14 hours late from Charlotte. Â Two of us got sick. Â Rain, rain and more rain.
This year we thought we would give it another try.
Hedging our bets, we went over to London after our New Year’s Ireland trip (see here) for two nights and three days. Â We stayed in Marylebone, which is an absolutely beautiful neighborhood.
The weather held out perfectly, except for one small rain burst.
We took the girls to the British Museum, the Churchill War Rooms, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace…
Shopping also ensued. Â Harrods, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, the Kings Road, Mayfair. Â Frequent stops for coffee and something sweet to eat.
 Â
My old college dorm was directly across from the Victoria and Albert Museum, so I had to take the girls for a quick stroll through Egerton Gardens.
We ate in Marlybone both nights we were in London.
I was dying to eat at the hip 1889 Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, but so was everyone else in London.  No dice.  We ate at some incredible places ~ the Grazing Goat, La Fromagerie and The Providores & Tapa Room.  Tim and I found ourselves at the 108 Brasserie both nights for a drink after dinner.  It was right around the corner from where we were staying.  Fabulous.
 Â
London is a great walking city. Â We only took a cab once.
We had a wonderful time. Â Packed a lot into a few days.
I think we will go back soon and definitely stay longer. Â I wanted to ride the London Eye, but some of my family members are too chicken. Â You know who you are.
