I am always interested in what motivates someone’s design choices. Â I have some old standbys that I use to inspire: Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and Coastal Living. Â I also browse Pinterest, Instagram and HOUZZ frequently for ideas. Â But, it is the unexpected things that inspire a design choice that are my favorite.
I love the use of color in this painting. Â It inspired me to use an orange and blue combination in a new office space.
Fabric choices.
I hung the painting in the office (in front of couch) to pull it altogether.
Â
On a trip to Europe, I was attracted to all things PURPLE.
So when I redecorated my daughter’s bedroom, she was the lucky winner of my latest obsession.
This gray palate was the inspiration for a bathroom renovation.
Soft gray walls, white trim.
White tiles, white towels.
 Â
My progress from all gray (a little too blah) to adding a pop of color with the framed poster. Â I didn’t end up using any of the tile, but love the gray bathroom!
Flipping through HOUZZ for a completely different reason, I saw this photo for a small kitchen bar and had to have it.
We had a 10′ by 24″ wasted space in our kitchen and I tucked this right in, next to an existing pantry.
I liked the patterned glass and modern pulls in the HOUZZ photo so much, I tried to recreate it here.
Voila!
This little lady inspired the bold accent color in our master bedroom.
 Â
This Dash & Albert rug and Stroheim fabric combination motivated me to use bold color in a beach powder room.
 Â
I am sure you have had just about enough, but I have one more….
Another HOUZZ photo – fell in love with this wallpaper.
So put it in my powder room!
I would LOVE to hear what inspires your design choices. Â Please tell me in the comment section. Â I would also like to thank all of my readers for your amazing support and feedback ~ The Wry Home is three years old this week! Â Could not do it without you, thank you all so much. xo Liz

I also saw that powder room wall paper and loved it!
It also comes in navy, pale gray and a sand color. Love!
