In late 2021, I did an unexpected career pivot and decided to go to coaching school. I was having lunch with a good friend who had just finished the Brown University Coaching program. We were both a little unmoored in our careers as a result of Covid and she was raving about her new start. I was intrigued and hopeful that my background in Consumer Product Marketing and Management Consulting could add value as a coach.
My career history consists of 20+ years of experience in the corporate world at companies such as Bain & Company Management Consulting, Elizabeth Arden, Neutrogena and PepsiCo. I worked on amazing brands in fragrance, skin care, food and beverage as a senior marketing executive. In addition to these Fortune 500 companies, I was on the ground floor of two successful beverage start-ups, so I have a strong understanding of the intricacies of both big and small professional landscapes.
I started my coach training at Brown University in March 2022. Brown teaches the ACT method (Awareness, Choice, Transformation), one of the most effective coaching methodologies rooted in developmental psychology and neuroscience. I graduated in October 2022 and, to date, have done over 400 hours of 1:1 coaching with professionals from a wide variety of industries and career levels. And I love it!
Next step, I got my ACC (Associate Certified Coach) which is the first ICF credential offered by the International Coaching Federation. It signifies that a coach has met the necessary training and experience requirements to practice professionally.
Coaching is about what is possible now and next. I work with clients to build awareness around issues so they can make more informed choices, leading to new perspectives and transformation. To create a plan to get you the things you want.
I am passionate about helping people at any stage of their career. I have a warm and honest approach that helps clients move past obstacles to meet their goals. So, if you are looking for a change, a new perspective, to discover what’s next – let’s do this together!
I offer 1:1 coaching in my own private practice, Elizabeth Dowling Coaching.
I also work with clients at Ezra Executive Coaching and Lee Hecht Harrison. Ezra is a corporate career coaching platform and Lee Hecht Harrison specializes in career transitions.
Client Feedback:
Liz was phenomenal!! I had no idea when I requested this experience how much of an impact she would have on me and the trajectory of my career. I would 12/10 recommend her to anyone looking to elevate themselves and their career!
Liz asks wonderful questions that lead to breakthroughs and allow me to connect dots I hadn’t connected before. I appreciate how she asks thought-provoking questions aside from the basic coaching questions. I feel like Liz has a genuine interest in my growth and development and I have someone ‘on my team’ cheering me on. Really enjoy our conversations.
Liz is an absolutely wonderful coach! She sees the positive in all things I am doing with my work. She can read my body language and provide great insight about my future in nursing and as a leader. She is insightful, kind, and motivating!
Liz was supportive and empathetic throughout the session. She once again used mirroring questions to guide me towards an answer without explicitly suggesting anything. At the same time, she was able to give concrete advice for specific questions I had. Really appreciated the advice I got from Liz and it was a pleasure getting to talk to her.
Liz was very helpful in listening to my job endeavors and barriers. She helped me decipher information I was given regarding a potential leadership position in my career and deciding my next steps in achieving that. She helped me think/talk through potential options for myself.
I really appreciated my time with Liz. She did a great drop leading the discussion and helping me think through various considerations with my current role. It was interesting having these sessions during a period of time where I transitioned into a new role, and it was helpful talking through it all with Liz. Thank you!
Liz was very easy to talk to. She made me feel comfortable and supportive. She made me feel heard and validated. She had great insight into next steps. She is very knowledgeable and professional.
Appreciate the conversation on framing up the value I can add to another function in the organization. Appreciate Liz sharing her own experience in the marketing realm and drawing correlations on how to articulate the value I bring in solving evergreen issues Thank you Liz!
Really appreciate our discussion! Liz was wonderful at asking questions and genuinely learning more about me. She asked insightful questions and got me to consider things from a different view. I’m excited about the conversations we can have. Thanks!
It was great to just communicate (with another person) all the thoughts I’ve been keeping inside my own head. By allowing me the space to just talk, Liz was able to capture some meaningful insights (puzzle solver, mentor) that will help me on the path to discovering what might be next for me in my career.
I loved my first session with Liz! She was a really good listener and summarized what I was working through at work very succinctly and kept me on topic. I have already recommended coaching to several colleagues!
